Following bariatric surgery it has been proven that continued support can have a positive impact on your chances of long-term success. In the past we have offered our post-bariatric surgery patients Support Groups that were held in our main practice in Kogarah, Sydney.
As our practice grows we have increasingly noticed that not all of our patients have been able to attend our support group meetings, whether this be due to the dates/times, or as a lot of our patients are not close by geographically so were unable to make the trip.
This is why we have taken steps towards improving our support post surgery to make it more inclusive for all of our patients.
Siara Health
If you are a new bariatric surgery patient (from late 2019 onwards) you will have received an invite to connect to the Siara Health platform. Siara Health is a software application that provides our patients with important information about their bariatric surgical procedure and subsequent aftercare. This content, written specifically for Upper GI Surgery, provides customised and personalised information and triggers to help our patients during their recovery phase and beyond.
If you would like to join the Siara Health program, or you’re having difficulty accessing your program please contact our team today who will be able to assist.
Online Support
As a large number of our patients are members of Facebook, we have created a Private UGIS Bariatric Support Group which you can request to join online if you are an UGIS patient. This allows patients the opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and seek support from peers online.
We also have our own Facebook page where we actively post useful information and share our most recent blogs for our patients.
We also have a Youtube Channel which includes helpful and insightful videos from our doctors which can assist you on your journey before, during and after surgery.
Newsletter
Only recently we have started a newsletter to keep in touch with our bariatric patients, showcasing the most recent blogs that are relevant to their journey. If you would like to join our newsletter mailing list please contact our team today who will add you to the list.
Blog
If you haven’t already, check out our Blog online, which contains useful sections such as Life After Bariatric Surgery or Healthy Eating and Exercise. Our blog is regularly updated with interesting articles and news that you may find useful. We share all of our blogs on our Facebook page and include our top picks in our bariatric patient newsletter.
