Dr Jennifer Matthei

Dr Jennifer Matthei is a highly skilled medical professional with 30 years of experience in practice. Dr Matthei obtained her medical degree from the University of New South Wales and graduated with honours in 1994. She completed her internship at St George Hospital and then completed her residency at Nepean Hospital and The Children’s Hospital in Westmead. Dr Matthei underwent her GP training in Elderslie, followed by Gilgandra and Dubbo, obtaining her FRACGP in 1998. The bulk of her career has been in General practice, before specialising in bariatric and obesity management in 2018. 

Dr Matthei provides comprehensive medical obesity management and long-term post-bariatric surgical care working closely with the team of specialists at Upper GI Surgery.  As an Accredited Bariatric Care Specialist with the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), Dr Matthei reinforces her commitment to delivering excellent patient care. She also performs oesophageal manometry on both bariatric and non-bariatric patients.  

She has completed specialised training with SCOPE Obesity, the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and the Australian and New Zealand Metabolic Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS). Currently, she is working towards a Fellowship with the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) and is an active member of the RACGP Obesity Special interest group.
