After completing his medical degree at the University of Auckland, Dr Maani undertook specialist training in General Surgery through leading institutions including the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He subsequently completed sub-specialist training in Upper Gastrointestinal surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, followed by advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery at St George Hospital in Sydney, where he now practices.
Dr Maani has been recognised for his surgical outcomes and commitment to patient care, including being awarded the designation of Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery by the SRC, reflecting excellence in safety, consistency, and clinical results.
He is a member of AANZGOSA and ANZMOSS, and is a regular contributor to the Bariatric Surgery Registry (BSR). He remains committed to staying at the forefront of developments in minimally invasive and metabolic surgery.
