Obesity is still a misunderstood disease that affects 800 million people worldwide.
Raising public awareness is very important to help, not only the patient, but the wider community to be better informed to assist in preventing this disease.
World Obesity Day is an initiative dedicated to addressing this “growing global epidemic” and is calling for everybody from patient to policy maker to get involved.
“Obesity is a disease and must be treated as one. We all have a role to play in supporting and advocating for people living with obesity. We must recognise that every body matters if we are to build a healthier world for everybody”.
As healthcare professionals, UGIS proudly supports WOD and we will continue to raise awareness, educate and provide care and treat this disease to help our patients live happier, healthier lives.
